Privacy policy

Applies to the LimaRead app for Android, iPhone and iPad (package com.limaread.app) and to the website limaread.com. Last updated 22 October 2026.

LimaRead is a reading app for children. The short version: what a child reads, for how long and how well stays on the phone or tablet. The only things that reach us are what is needed to send you books and, if you subscribe, to know that you have.

Who is responsible

The app and the website are published by SIA KV Cache (TensorSplit, registration no. 40203786599, Pērnavas iela 39-40, LV-1009), Riga, Latvia, the developer account under which LimaRead is distributed. Questions about this policy and requests about your data: [email protected].

What stays on the device

All of the following is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage, and is never sent to us:

Child profiles: a name you choose, an animal avatar drawn in code, a reading stage and a language. No photograph, no date of birth, no account for the child.
Reading progress, listening history, achievements, reading plans, weekly and development reports, and every setting.
Downloaded books and their audio, for reading offline.
The parent PIN that protects the parent settings in child mode.

The weekly report becomes a PDF only when you ask for one, on the device, and goes only where you send it. "Export family data" writes one plain, readable file that you keep; "Import family data" reads one back. Deleting a child profile deletes that child's data on the device and says so before it does.

Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.

What reaches our servers

The server is never told which book was opened, which page was read, for how long, or by which child. There is no analytics or crash-reporting service in the app, and no advertising of any kind.

If you subscribe

The first six books in every language and reading group are free, without an account. A subscription opens the whole library. To let one subscription work on a family's iPhone and Android devices alike, the subscription is tied to an account you sign in to with Sign in with Apple or Google:

We receive from Apple or Google the sign-in token and the e-mail address (or Apple's private relay address) of the account. We store that address and an opaque account identifier so we can recognise the account on another device.
The purchase itself is made with Apple or Google. We receive from the store a receipt or purchase token that tells us whether the subscription is active and until when. We store that entitlement and its expiry; we never see your card or payment details.
Nothing about the child is attached to the account: no name, no progress, no history.

Cancelling is done in your Apple or Google subscription settings. Deleting the account, and with it the stored address and entitlement, is done from Preferences → Premium, or by writing to the address above.

Children

LimaRead is made for children and is used under a parent's supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children: there is no account, sign-in, form or free-text field for a child, and child mode keeps the parent settings behind a PIN. The only account in the app is the parent's subscription account described above.

Permissions the app asks for

Internet, to fetch the catalogue and books.
Storage of the app's own files, for downloaded books, exports and PDFs. The app does not read other files on the device.
No camera, microphone, contacts, location or advertising identifier.

The website

limaread.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from anybody else. Your language and theme choices are kept in your browser's local storage only. There is nothing here to consent to.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its processing. Because almost everything is on your own device, most of this is in your hands directly: Preferences → Family data for export and deletion, Preferences → Premium for the account. For the rest, write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new text is published here. We will not reduce what this policy promises without telling you in the app first.
