LimaRead School · for schools and kindergartens

Plan your class’s reading, follow every child and see who needs help.

LimaRead School has two parts. Teachers work in a web panel: classes, reading plans, tasks, goals and reports. Children read in the LimaRead app on tablets, where every story is read aloud while the spoken word lights up, in six languages.

An open book from which a storybook world rises: a castle, trees, a blue whale, a rocket and a hot-air balloon.

  • Books in 6 languages
  • Teacher panel in 7 languages

How it works

A class’s activation codes as cards with a QR code, ready to print.

1. Set up your classes

Create your classes, add the children one by one or import a list, and print an activation code for each child. A child’s tablet is linked by typing the code or scanning its QR code: no email and no password.

The plan builder: the books of a plan in order, with tasks and due dates.

2. Plan the reading

Build a reading plan from the library: the books in order, with a task after a book where you want one. Publish it to a class and every child finds it in the app.

The overview of a class: reading time, active readers, goals and the children who need support.

3. Follow and support

The overview shows this week’s reading time, active readers, finished books and goals. Support signals tell you which child has stopped reading or is falling behind.

The student list with each child’s class, reading time and status.

Students

All your students in one list, with their class, this week’s reading and whether their device is activated. Search, filter and sort, or import a whole class from a spreadsheet.

One child’s profile: reading activity, books, goals and notes.

A profile for every child

Reading time, books, goals, task answers and your notes on one page, with the family’s contacts and the devices the child reads on.

The Edit student form: name, date of birth, gender and the parents’ contacts.

Edit a student

First name, last name, date of birth and gender, the animal on the child’s card, and up to three family contacts: mother, father and one more guardian. Reports go only to parents who confirm by e-mail.

The reading library: book covers with language, level and reading time, and filters.

Reading library

Hundreds of illustrated stories in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Russian. Filter by language, reading level, age and genre, and add a book to a plan in one click.

A book open in the panel: an illustration and the text, with the spoken words highlighted.

Read a book with the class

Open any book in the browser and play it on the classroom screen: the story is read aloud while the spoken word lights up. Sentence, flow or word mode, three speeds, full screen.

The task list with each task’s book, questions and how many answers are waiting to be graded.

Tasks

Questions after a book, for comprehension, vocabulary and reflection: one answer, several answers or a free answer. A task can be required before the next book.

The New task form with one question, three answers and the correct one ticked.

Create a task

Give the task a title and a type, then write the questions: one answer, several answers or a short text. Tick the correct answers and set the points; choice questions are graded automatically.

The answers to one task: each child’s answers, the share of correct answers and grading.

Answers and grading

See every child’s answers and how the class answered each question. You grade the free answers and leave a comment for the child.

Reading goals as cards with the target and the share of children who reached it.

Reading goals

Set a weekly reading goal for a class or a child and see who reaches it. Exceptions for illness or a family trip keep the record fair, and school holidays do not count.

The Edit goal form: the kind of goal, who it is for, the target and the period.

Set or change a goal

Choose what counts (reading minutes or reading days a week, books or chapters finished, tasks done), for the whole class or one student, and the target per week or month. A changed goal replaces the current one from now on.

The reports page: reading time by week, books and goals for a class.

Reports

Reading time, books, goals and active readers by week or by period, for a class or one child. Download the figures as an Excel or CSV file.

Support signals as cards: the child, the reason and the action taken.

Support signals

The panel points out the children who need attention: no reading for a week, a sudden drop, a goal missed twice, a device that has not synced or a code never used. You note what you did.

The teachers of a school with their roles, classes and contact details.

Teachers and roles

Invite your colleagues and give each one their classes. A substitute teacher can get view-only access for a set time. The director sees the whole school.

The school calendar: holidays, closures and class trips for the school year.

School calendar

Holidays, closures and class trips in one calendar. Days without school do not count against reading goals.

The licence page: seats used, the licence period and the list of invoices.

Licence and invoices

Seats and classes in use, the licence period, renewal and every invoice in one place for the director.

The audit log: a list of changes with the person, the action and the time.

Audit log

Every change to students, classes, plans and access is recorded: who did what, and when.

Why schools choose LimaRead School

Two languages in the room

Every story is read aloud with the spoken word lit, in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Russian. A class can read the same story in two languages.

No accounts for children

A child’s device is linked with an activation code or a QR code. No email, no password, nothing for the child to remember.

One panel for every teacher

Plans, tasks, goals and reports for all your classes, in the browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone.

The whole school in one account

Teachers, classes, substitutes, the school calendar and one licence with one invoice, managed by the director.

In class and at home

A child can read on two devices, a class tablet and one at home, with one profile and one plan. Downloaded books work without Wi-Fi.

The school stays in control

The school decides what is kept about a child and can correct or delete it at any time. No advertising, no third-party analytics, and every change is in the audit log.

Home access for families

Give each family a class code. Families get LimaRead at home at a reduced price, and the children read the same stories in both places. We agree the terms with your institution.

Start a pilot in four steps

  1. Write to us with your institution, the number of groups and children, their ages and the languages you read in. The button below opens an email with these questions ready to fill in.
  2. We reply and agree a start date. The pilot is free, lasts 30 days and covers one group.
  3. We open your school’s account with you in one short session. You add your classes and children, or import a list, and print the activation codes.
  4. The children read for 30 days and you follow them in the panel. At the end you choose a plan, or stop. There is nothing to cancel.

What you need

  • A tablet for every few children (Android, or iPad), with internet for the first download.
  • A teacher to run the class, with a computer or a tablet for the panel.
  • A few minutes of reading time a day, in English, Spanish or another of the six languages.
  • Your usual notice to families. We give you a data processing agreement and a template letter for parents.

Questions from teachers and directors

Does each child need an account?

No. The teacher creates the child’s profile in the panel: a name, a class and a reading language; anything else, such as a date of birth, is optional. The child’s device is linked with an activation code or a QR code, so there is no email and no password.

What devices do we need?

For the children: Android tablets, iPads or iPhones, up to two devices for each child. For the teachers: a web browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone. Books and progress need the internet; downloaded books can be read without a connection.

Which ages and languages?

Ages 3 to 17, in three reading stages. Every story exists in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Russian, so a class can read the same story in two languages. The teacher panel is in English, Latvian, Spanish, German, French, Russian and Italian.

What happens to the children’s data?

The school is the data controller, and we process the data on its behalf under a data processing agreement. We keep only what the panel needs: the child’s profile, reading time, progress and task answers. Each school’s data is kept apart, there is no advertising or third-party analytics, and nothing is sent to AI services. The school can correct or delete a child’s data at any time.

What does it cost, and how do we pay?

A group costs $149 a year, a site with up to 5 groups $449, an institution with up to 15 groups $999; networks by agreement. One invoice to your institution. The pilot is free. These are pilot prices, without VAT or sales tax.

Can families use it at home?

Yes. Give each family a class code and they get LimaRead at home at a reduced price. We agree the terms with your institution.

How do we start?

Write to [email protected] with your group size, the children’s ages and the languages you read in. We agree a start date and set it up with you in one short session.

Ready to try it with one class?

The pilot is free and lasts 30 days. Write to us and we reply within two working days.
